What are the main allergens that cause allergic rhinitis (hayfever)?
In Southeast Queensland localities, the most common airborne allergens responsible for allergic rhinitis (hayfever) symptoms are house dust mites, grass pollens, cat and dog and other animal danders, and airborne environmental mould spores, for example Alternaria alternata.
In Central to Far north QLD, the ''tropical house dust mite,'' Blomia tropicalis is important.
There are many other possible allergens, but the above are the most common.
